Home Therapy and Rehab

After a severe injury or illness sometimes it will be necessary to work with a therapist to help you rehabilitate as part of your recovery. There are different types of therapists who focus on different areas of treatment. Home therapy is often the last stage as the patient has almost fully recovered and no longer needs to be completely under a doctor’s care.

The first type of therapy is physical therapy, where your therapist will come out to your home and work with you to help you overcome impairments, restore mobility, and improve your quality of life. This is often necessary in cases such as a fall or broken bone where the muscles have not been able to work out during the healing process and are now significantly weaker.

Second is occupational therapy. Very similar to physical therapy in that it is focused on physical activities. However instead of helping you work the muscles, occupational therapy will help you maintain living and working skills as you recover from injuries. This can be vital to transitioning back to when you can take care of yourself, and return to work.

Finally there is speech therapy. Speech therapy is focused around helping patients who are experiencing neurological problems due to injury or illness. Speech therapists work with their patients to alleviate stuttering, speech disorders, or auditory processing disorders. These disorders can cause a person to have problems speaking or understanding.

If you need an in home therapist for rehabilitation I can help you. My knowledge of nursing and patients advocacy allows me to work with you to find the right therapist for your needs. I will research the various therapists available in your area and make a recommendation based on your specific individual needs. Additionally I will help you understand the process, as well as what to expect, and what you should not expect. This allows you to have a better understanding of the process as you begin work with your new therapist. By ensuring you have a therapist tailored to your unique needs, and educating you on the process I can help you speed your recovery.
